Ken D’s “Street Anthem” Captivates Audiences at U.S. and Ghana Music Events, Cementing His Rise as a Global Afrobeat Star

Newark, NJ / Accra, Ghana – July 15, 2025 – Nigerian Afrobeat and street-hop sensation Ken D (Kenneth Ahunanya) is making waves on the international stage as his hit single “Street Anthem” earned prominent features at two major music events: the African Heritage Music & Arts Festival in Newark, New Jersey, on July 12, and the Ghana Music Conference in Accra on July 15, 2025. The recognition underscores Ken D’s growing influence as a voice for urban African youth and a rising star in the global music scene.

A Cultural Anthem Resonates in Newark

The African Heritage Music & Arts Festival, held at Newark’s Military Park, drew thousands to celebrate African music, art, and cuisine. Amid electrifying performances by artists like KiDi, Cina Soul, Nathan Pryce & the PLC 44 Band, and Afro Afrique, Ken D’s “Street Anthem” stood out as a highlight of the festival’s curated Afrobeat playlist. The track, drawn from his debut album Fresh Start, was spun by renowned DJs including Zandy SheJay, Millie Bass, Hard Hittin Harry, and Kwame Fresh.

Festival hosts KIU Interns, Uncle Kay, and Kassava praised the song as “an anthem of the modern African experience,” noting its powerful resonance with youth navigating cultural and personal transitions. The track’s infectious blend of gritty storytelling and vibrant Afrobeat rhythms captivated the diverse crowd, cementing its place as a festival favorite.

Global Spotlight Shines in Accra

Just three days later, “Street Anthem” was celebrated at the prestigious Ghana Music Conference 2025 in Accra, a leading platform for both emerging and established African artists. The song was spotlighted for its cultural and lyrical depth, sharing the stage with tracks by African music giants such as Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, Gyakie, Davido, Asake, and Ayra Starr.

Though Ken D could not attend either event in person, he shared his gratitude in a recorded message played at the conference and later spoke to the press remotely from Nigeria:

“It’s humbling to know ‘Street Anthem’ is connecting with people across continents. To be recognized in both the U.S. and Ghana in the same week shows the power of music to transcend borders. I’m deeply inspired to keep pushing forward.”

From the Streets to the World Stage

“Street Anthem,” the lead single from Ken D’s debut album Fresh Start, captures the struggles and aspirations of urban African youth through its raw lyricism and pulsating Afrobeat rhythms. Other tracks from the album, including “No Sleep,” “Odogwu Level,” and “Hustle Till Dawn,” are gaining steady traction on streaming platforms, further solidifying Ken D’s reputation as a dynamic new voice in African music.

The dual recognition in Newark and Accra marks a pivotal moment for the artist, whose authentic storytelling and bold sound are resonating with audiences worldwide. “The streets gave me this voice,” Ken D said. “Now, I’m using it to speak to the world.”

A Star on the Rise

Ken D’s rapid ascent reflects the growing global influence of Afrobeat and the power of music to bridge cultures. With Fresh Start gaining momentum and “Street Anthem” earning international acclaim, the Nigerian artist is poised to become a leading figure in the next wave of African music stars.

As he continues to build on this milestone, Ken D remains grounded in his mission: “This is just the beginning. I’m here to tell stories that matter, and I’m grateful for every ear that’s listening.”
