Abortion is at its peak in the world and Nigeria is not an exception according to researchers and findings 2.7 millions abortion were committed by Nigeria women in 2017.

A study in the Department of Reproduction Health by the University of Ibadan has revealed that 55 abortion rate were recorded yearly per 1,000 women and half of the number are adolescent s who indulge in unsafe sex that resulted to unplanned pregnancies, A scientist revealed that majority of the abortion were done by young girls in secondary schools and women in their early 20s.

According to the Nigeria laws the only legal way to have an abortion in Nigeria is if having the child is going to put the mother life in danger. The abortion laws of the criminal code Are expressed within sections 228, 229 and 230 section 228 states that any person providing a miscarriage to a women is guilty of a felony and up to 14 years in imprisonment. Section 229 states that any woman obtaining a miscarriage is guilty of felony and up to 7 years.
