To ensure there is access to portable water in Taraba State, Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku has embarked on an N8b Jalingo Primary Water Source Project, which will provide 28 million litres of water per day.

Already, the governor has flagged off the construction of additional 5 million litres water reservoir project in Jalingo. The construction of the said State-of-the -Art multipurpose 5 million litres reservoir, according to the governor, is an indication that the state is moving away from the mere rhetoric of singing the importance of water to life, but taking practical steps in making water and sanitation services available to the people.

Ishaku, who stated that the state, in collaboration with its development partners, has made steady progress in water service delivery to the people, said the execution of the urban water and sanitation improvement project supported by the African Development Bank is aimed at upgrading and expanding water production to Jalingo and reforming the sector.
He thanked United States Agency for International Development (USAID)’s Effective Water Sanitation and Hygiene Services (E-WASH), African Development Bank Group (AFDB), Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and World Bank’s Community and Social Development Project (CSDP) for making the achievements in the water sector possible for his administration.

Ishaku said the state government’s door is widely open to partners willing to leverage on the investment opportunities abound in the state.
