Depay, Alaba and even Di Maria: Barca's 5 transfer market opportunities in 2021

A lot world-class players will be without contract in July 2021 which makes them the perfect (and cheap) options to strengthen Barcelona.

Memphis Depay

  • The Dutch winger is Barca’s No.1 priority in the attack, endorsed by Ronald Koeman several times.
  • Depay was reluctant to commit to Lyon for more years in the latest interview.
  • The 25-year-old has scored 5 goals for the Ligue 1 side this season.

David Alaba

  • The 28-year-old would be a real bargain for any possible club but his reported €20m salary demands remain a stumbling block.
  • The versatile Austrian star could play as a left-back, centre-back and a central midfielder.
  • Alaba averages 1.5 interceptions and 2.1 clearances per game for Bayern this term.

Georginio Wijnaldum

  • The Dutchman is another Barca target, endorsed by countryman Ronald Koeman.
  • Wijnaldum’s latest blunt comments on the contract standoff with Liverpool may suggest he isn’t close to renewing.
  • A holding midfielder at Liverpool, the 30-year-old plays in a more advanced role for the Netherlands, managing 10 goals for his national team since 2019.

Eric Garcia

  • The Catalans badly need a new centre-back and bringing back their former prospect could serve as a boost for La Masia.
  • Multiple sources have been claiming that everything is agreed between Barca and the 19-year-old as both sides are open to this transfer.
  • Eric has made 3 appearances for Manchester City, averaging 94.5 passing accuracy rate, 3.8 clearances, 2.5 tackles and 1.3 interceptions.

Angel di Maria

  • Barca were interested in the Argentine winger in 2017 and the wait could be finally over.
  • The 32-year-old could be tempted by the idea of Leo Messi reunion even despite his Real Madrid past.
  • Di Maria has scored 4 goals and provided 2 goals in 8 games for Paris Saint-Germain, performing brilliantly at both wings.
