“It was in one of my first training sessions at the club, and Charly Rexach told me there was an Argentine kid who I needed to see,” former Barcelona striker Javier Saviola told Diario Sport, recalling his first meeting with Leo Messi.
“That was Messi – I was completely in awe of him when I saw him play.”

Saviola joined Barca ahead of the 2001-2002 campaign which saw Charly Rexach appointed as a permanent head coach. So, Messi just turned 14 back then.
Leo made his first-team debut in October 2004, scoring his debut goal in May 2005. The rest is history.
