- Leo Messi’s contract at Barcelona expires in June 2021 meaning that starting with January, teams are free to negotiate personal terms with him over a future move.
- Manchester City will have the chance to offer Messi a pre-contract as Barca don’t plan to open talks over a possible renewal only until later in the season, The Telegraph’s Mike McGrath reports.
- This perhaps has to do with the fact that the new president won’t be elected earlier than January and there are more important things to solve at the moment.
