⚽ Managers’ quotes

Ronald Koeman (Barca): “We know that Sevilla are a strong team who aspire to achieve many things every year. They’ve got a good coach and play a complicated game. If we play well at home, as we have in the last two games, we have a lot in our favour.”

Julien Lopetegui (Sevilla): “The only way to compete with a team like Barcelona is to push them to the limit in all footballing senses. Barca have a tremendously broad squad and whoever plays will be sure to be prepared. They don’t change much whether one or the other plays.”

⚽ Probable line-ups

Barca XI: Neto; Roberto, Araujo, Pique, Alba; Busquets, De Jong; Griezmann, Coutinho, Ansu Fati; Messi.

Sevilla: Bono; Navas, Kounde, Carlos, Acuna; Jordan, Fernando, Rakitic; Ocampos, En-Nesyri, Munir (h/t SportsMole)

⚽ Head-to-head record

  • Barca have won three (3-0, 4-2, 6-1) and lost one (0-2) of their last five matches against Sevilla, with the remaining one ending in a 0-0 draw.
  • Blaugrana have beaten the Europa League winners in all of their home matches (4-0, 6-1, 4-2, 2-1, 3-0, 3-0).
  • The last time Barca lost at Camp Nou to Los Nervionenses was back in 2010; the visitors beat the Catalans 2-1 in the Copa del Rey quarter-finals.

⚽ Predictions

SportsMole’s Matt Law: Barcelona 2-1 Sevilla

“Barcelona have the chance to leapfrog Real Madrid with a victory here, and while that is not something for the Blaugrana faithful to get over-excited about after three games, it sends out a strong message nonetheless.

“Sevilla are certainly not to be underestimated and this will be an entertaining affair, but Barca should do enough to get over the line.”

La Liga Expert: Barcelona 2-1 Sevilla

“There have been quite a lot of false dawns for Sevilla, at least in terms of thinking they are on the brink of becoming a side capable of competing at the very top of La Liga.

“Good runs are often ended in emphatic fashion in away games at Camp Nou and the Bernabeu and while it looks unlikely they will get played off the park, an improved Barcelona do look capable of ending Sevilla’s 17-game unbeaten streak in La Liga here.”
