Society for Family Health (SFH) has said that through effective implementation of Project A360, it averted over 2,000 unplanned pregnancies among adolescents and managed 300 Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs) cases between March and August in the state.

The A360 Project Assistant, Samuel Ombs, made this known in his presentation at a media roundtable organised by SFH yesterday in Lafia.

Ombs explained that the project was designed by society, in collaboration with the state’s Ministry of Health, to tackle the challenges of adolescent girls’ reproductive health.

The Northern Regional Coordinator of SFH, Mrs. Anita Elabo, said Project A360 had been able to reach out to over 10,000 adolescent girls in Karu and Doma councils since inception in 2017.

Elabo explained that over 10,000 girls had been helped with various contraceptives, which helped in child spacing and prevention of unplanned pregnancies.

She maintained that despite the lockdown that grounded medical facilities and services in the state, Project A360, through its adaptation strategy, made information and services on reproductive health available to adolescent girls.

She assured that the next phase of the project would be sustainability and economic empowerment of the young persons with skills and fund to start small businesses.
