The Confederation of African Football (CAF) revealed more details of its maiden Women’s Champions League tournament.

The tournament will consist of eight teams which will be determined through qualifiers to be held in each of CAF’s six regional zones.

In addition to the six teams from the zonal qualifiers, the host country will provide another team and, for the inaugural tournament only, a second team from the same region as the host country will be drafted in.

“For the maiden edition, the zonal union of the host country will have two representatives. However, for subsequent editions, the host country will have only one representative whilst the Zonal Union of the defending champion will qualify two teams,” CAF said in a statement.
