Barcelona said to contact Xavi over job offer

  • Eric Abidal and Oscar Grau held a private meeting with Xavi on Friday.
  • It took place the day after Barca’s upsetting Supercopa defeat against Atletico.
  • The 39-year-old may return to Barcelona as the team’s new manager.

Barcelona have contacted Xavi over replacing Ernesto Valverde in the near future, RAC1 claim.

Barca officials Eric Abidal and Oscar Grau had a meeting with the ex-Blaugrana star in Doha, Qatar, the source continues. The meeting took place less than a day after Barca suffered a defeat against Atletico Madrid in the Supercopa.

Earlier on, Xavi himself agreed that it would be ‘a dream’ to coach his former club, however, he also said that he wasn’t prepared to such a massive challenge.
