Cape Verde

Cabo Verde airlines now have a route from Lagos to Cape Verde and there is no better time to plan your visit than December. The best islands to visit are Sal, Boa Vista, Fogo, Sao Vicente and Santa Antao.

Cape Verde Islands are known for their sandy beaches, beach resorts, turquoise blue water, sailing trips, hiking trails, wildlife, marine life and nice restaurants.

A good place to stay is Hilton Cabo Verde in Santa Maria, Sal or Hotel Morabeza and then island-hop to get a full experience; each island will leave you feeling differently from the Portuguese vibe in Sao Vicente to the Volcanic sites in Fogo. It is currently a major hotspot in Africa and very affordable for a family holiday.

Ghana

Ghana is the best place to be this holiday if you are looking to have a fun-filled time and a rich cultural experience. This year, they celebrate “The Year of Return” which is an initiative by the Ghanaian government to encourage Africans in the diaspora to visit Ghana.

There are a variety of activities lined up, the most popular being “Afro Nation Festival” for music lovers. Visit the slave castle in Cape Coast, relax at the beach, experience nightlife in Osu, take the Kakum national park canopy walk, learn how to make batik, Zipline and Paraglide at Kwahu Mountains.

The Gambia

The smiling coast of Africa will live you happier than you have ever been. There is an experience for everyone based on your budget. Coco Ocean Resort and Ocean Bay Resort are really nice places to stay.

Explore the city of Banjul, go birdwatching (one of the major activities here), take a cruise, attend a cooking class, watch crocodiles at the crocodile pool, discover the slave roots of Kunta Kinte, go fishing, take a hike, camel riding, visit South Gambia safari, sail through mangroves at Makasutu and visit a village market.

To get the best from your holiday, a visit to the City of Dakar and Goree Island can be on your list.
