  • Cristiano Ronaldo’s sister insists her brother deserved to win the prize.
  • Messi has something to do with mafia, she claims.
  • That’s what helped him win his sixth Ballon d’Or, Ronaldo’s relative explains.

One of Cristiano Ronaldo’s sisters, Elma dos Santos Aveiro, genuinely believes in a conspiracy theory.

Right after the Ballon d’Or winner was announced, she published a post via Instagram to inform that the results could be unfair.

“Unfortunately this is the world we live in, maybe I shouldn’t understand anything about the world of football, because I’ve always felt that anyone who wins this prize should have won more titles and more trophies than a player who doesn’t, I have nothing against this boy [Messi], but I don’t know why he’s better than my brother!!!”

The post continues: “But since I don’t understand much, it could be that this prize is on a personal level, never on a professional one!!! This only shows that we are really very small and the mafia will never be on the weak side, but justice will come soon and he [Ronaldo] never fails at Portugal and will answer at the right time.

“I will be suspicious, but everyone sees that you are the best for me and you will always be…”

Shortly thereafter, the post was deleted.

Cristiano Ronaldo was placed third in overall Ballon d’Or rankings. According to the leaked voting results, the Portuguese got 200 points less than both Leo Messi and Virgil van Dijk.
