Judgement Day: Tribunal Strikes Out PDP, Atiku’s Star Witness Account

The Presidential Election Petition Tribunal on Wednesday, struck out the witness statement by former Aviation Minister, Osita Chidoka, Afriupdate news reports.

This follows a ruling by the Tribunal on the request by President Muhammadu Buhari through his counsels for the striking out of the witness statement.

Chidoka, who served as the National Collation Officer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) during the 2019 presidential election, had written the statement in support of the petition by Atiku Abubakar and the PDP.

He testified as a star witness for the petitioner in the case before the Tribunal challenging the victory of President Buhari, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In its 4th ruling of the day, the Tribunal submitted that the statement was incompetent, having been filed in violation of the provision of the Electoral Act 2010 (as ammended).

It also struck out some other documents and portions of some processes filed by the petitioners.
