Speaking with Swiss media outlet Blick, Granit Xhaka revealed that he will take a break from football in October.
“There are more special things in life than football. For example, when you become a father.
“With Haris [Seferovic – Swiss striker] it was agreed that he gives everything against Ireland and then travels home.
“And with me, it would probably fall on that time when we [Switzerland] play.”
Xhaka’s child is expected to be born sometime during the October international break, meaning it should not affect Unai Emery’s plans in any way.
However, there is a small chance the midfielder’s wife goes into labour earlier than expected and, int hat case, Xhaka would miss our home game against Bournemouth on October 6.
