Plateau has been chosen as a pilot state in the North-Central for the Federal Government’s new N-Power Junior, a Special Intervention Programme (SIP) aimed at providing ICT facilities to primary pupils across the country, says an official.

Afriupdate reports that Dr Sumaye Hamza, Executive Assistant to Gov. Simon Lalong on Special intervention Programme, (SIP), disclosed this in an interview with newsmen in Jos.

Hamza said that N-Power Junior was different from the School Feeding Programme being run by the office of the Vice President in which 220, 000 pupils in Plateau are benefiting.

“Already, Plateau is chosen as a pilot state in the North Central Zone for the Programme.

“Also, Olusegun Obasanjo Model Primary School, Hwolshe, was chosen as pilot school for the scheme.

“The space to erect the building where the ICT facilities would be kept has already been provided and very soon we shall lay the foundation,” she said.

The executive assistant described the choice of Plateau as a very huge blessing and a well deserved one, with the great improvement in educational standard.

She said that before the end of this year, more schools would be included and that what was expected was for the State Government to provide the space for building of the structures.

Also speaking, Ola Rotimi, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Next Rentious and Sources Construction Company of N-Power Junior, described the new programme as a well thought idea of the Federal Government.

“This N-power Junior is going to create an impact on our educational system and improve our learning environment, because classrooms will be well equipped.

“The Vice President, who is so keen about this programme, wants us to be as fast as possible in implementing it across the nation.

“That’s the more reason why we came as a team from the National Special Intervention Programme Office to Jos to ensure that the space is allocated and the foundation laid for its commencement without any delay,” Rotimi said.
