The countdown to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar begins: How to buy tickets

The countdown to the much-anticipated 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar has officially begun. In less than a month’s time, the biggest sporting event in the world will be taking place in the tiny Middle Eastern country.
As such, fans from all over the globe are already making plans on how to make their way to Qatar to witness the event firsthand or how they will bet on the matches at the best real money online casino, in addition to playing other thrilling games. However, with only a limited number of tickets available and in high demand, getting your hands on them won’t be easy.

Here is a guide on how you can buy them.

The first thing you need to do is create an account on FIFA.com/tickets. Once you have done that, you will need to log in and go to the tickets page. There, you will find all the information you need about ticket prices and categories.

Keep in mind that ticket prices vary depending on the category, as well as the match you wish to see. For instance, Category 1 tickets for the final match are priced at $1,606, while Category 4 tickets for the same game cost $205.

There are a total of four ticket categories, with Category 1 being the most expensive and reserved for the best locations while Category 4 is retained for Qatar citizens and residents.. The prices also differ depending on whether you are buying tickets for adults or children.

Which stadia will host the 2022 World Cup?

Khalifa International Stadium: The stadium was completed in 2017 and has a sitting capacity of 40,000.

Al Janoub Stadium: Located near al-Wakrah, a half-hour drive from the city, the stadium opened its doors in May 2019, and has a sitting size of 40,000.

Al Bayt Stadium is located on Qatar’s northeastern coast in Al Khor, is can accommodate 60,000 people.

Al Rayyan Stadium: The stadium is located in Al Rayyan and has a sitting capacity of 40,000.

Al Thumama: It is the closest stadium to Hamad International Airport in Qatar, and can accommodate 40,000 people.

Stadium 974: This is a temporary arena made of recycled shipping containers, and located in Ras Abu Aboud. It has a sitting capacity of 40,000.

Education Centre Stadium: Built in time for the 2022 World Cup , the venue is located in Doha, near the university campuses at the Education City. It has a sitting capacity of 40,000 but 25,000 seats will be reserved for the athletic teams of the university.

Lusail iconic stadium: It has a capacity 80,000, and will host the final World Cup match.

What does Qatar get to gain by hosting the World Cup?

Qatar is hoping to use the tournament to boost its image and cement its place on the global stage, in addition to boosting its economy which is heavily reliant on oil and gas. “The World Cup is a chance for Qatar to show itself to the world,” says Hassan Al Thawadi, secretary general of Qatar’s Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy, which is responsible for delivering the infrastructure for the tournament. “It’s an opportunity to showcase our culture and our hospitality.”

For one, it can help businesses gain exposure on a global scale. With an estimated 3.2 billion people expected to watch the tournament, businesses that sponsor the event will have a chance to reach a vast audience.
