• Imo Government: No One Can Threaten Buhari
Yesterday, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) announced a sit-at-home day on September 13 and complete lockdown in the South East and South South zones.
It said in a statement from its media and publicity secretary, Emma Powerful, that the civil action was required since President Muhammadu Buhari would be in Imo State and its leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, was scheduled to appear in court on that day to resume his trial.
The Department of State Services (DSS) has had custody of Kanu since last year.

Powerful said that the request for a sit-at-home “is to demonstrate our solidarity with our leader who is bearing our yoke in detention for almost a year now” and that the court case was originally scheduled for October 11 but moved up to September 13.
“IPOB never issued a new direction to Biafrans, but is merely carrying out an existing order to shut down Biafra Land on any day that the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra appears in court in Abuja,” he continued.
“The suspension of the first Monday sit-at-home stated by IPOB leadership in August 2021 was based on such an arrangement with our leader. It is crucial that our people comprehend this, go about their regular tasks, and prepare for Tuesday, September 13, 2022, when Biafra Land will be entirely locked down.
The message went on to say that the stay-at-home day will be observed in opposition to President Muhammadu Buhari’s scheduled visit to Owerri, the capital of Imo State, on that day.
On September 13, Buhari is scheduled to travel to Imo State to officially commission the projects that Governor Hope Uzodimma oversaw.
IPOB claimed that receiving him in Imo State on that day, when several innocent Imo youths were purportedly slain by the government’s security personnel, would be an insult to the people.
We must caution women’s groups, clergywomen, traditional chiefs, and anyone else who might be considering traveling to Owerri on Tuesday to participate in the dance of shame being planned. We must warn them to make wise decisions or prepare to face the spirit of our ancestors, our heroes, and the spirit that owns and guards Biafra Land.
Go to Owerri on Tuesday, September 13, and welcome Mazi Nnamdi Kanu if you agree with Buhari’s decision to detain the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra.
The group issued a warning, saying, “IPOB wants to remind all of you that have sold your conscience and are contemplating joining our enemies to come and mock our people and further desecrate our land that as IPOB ensured that Hope Uzodinma did not set foot in the UK, so we shall ensure that you will not set your cursed feet in your village or town again if you are found among the clowns in that Owerri circus.”
However, the Imo State government quickly disregarded the directive to stay at home and urged locals not to gather outside to greet Buhari on Tuesday, September 13.
Declan Emelumba, the commissioner for information and strategy, warned against impeding public movement while briefing reporters in Owerri yesterday. He announced that the president would arrive at the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport.
Nobody can endanger the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, according to Emelumba. During his visit, security is assured. I can confirm that. There is not a threat.
He revealed that the 48-kilometer Owerri-Okigwe Road’s first phase, the 35-kilometer Owerri-Orlu Road, and the newly rebuilt Imo House of Assembly Complex in New Owerri would all be opened by the president.
