According to Romano, United has reached a deal with Barcelona for De Jong for the time being, but the player’s unwillingness to transfer is holding things up. This might be a significant setback for Erik ten Hag, who would undoubtedly welcome the chance to work with his former player again.
This might create an opportunity for Chelsea, who may see De Jong as a perfect upgrade on Jorginho in the center of the park.
