Barcelona have a pretty solid squad as it is, but a chain is only as strong as its weakest link.
Right now, Barca’s weakest link is at left-back, where the club are yet to find a solid backup for Jordi Alba.
As can be seen in this lineup, Barcelona can field at least two good players in every position bar left-back. Clement Lenglet was known to be used as a stop-gap option there, but he’s been sent on loan.
Another option Barca have tried in that position is Sergino Dest, but the American is not comfortable playing there given he’s right-footed.

Thus, Barca as a matter of urgency need to go all out and get a left-back before the season starts.
