Paulo Dybala will be leaving Juventus on a free transfer at the end of the month after failing to agree a new contract with the Serie A giants.
Several Italian outlets have been linking the 28-year-old forward with a move to Manchester United and here’s why the Red Devils should avoid the transfer.
1. Salary demands
Dybala is leaving Juventus after the Serie A side had pulled their contract offer, realising that the Argentine is not worth an annual salary of €10 million.
2. Age and potential
Dybala will turn 29 in September, just a few weeks into the 2022/23 Premier League campaign. The forward has a few good season left in him but Man United have to think about the future.
3. Wrong kind of player
The player closest to Dybala’s profile at Old Trafford is Bruno Fernandes and the Portuguese’s limitations were exposed this season. Man United’s no.1 priority this summer should be signing a proper no.9 to replace Edinson Cavani.
4. Tarnished history
Dybala turned down a move to Man United in the summer of 2019 despite the player’s representative holding a personal meeting with Ed Woodward. The Red Devils should stand firm now that the player’s fortunes have dwindled.
5. Potential Premier League issues
Dybala finished the 2021/22 season with 15 goals and six assists in 39 matches for Juventus in all competitions. Matching those figures in the Premier League would be a massive task.
Although the 28-year-old is a regular starter for Juve (28 starts in all competitions), he rarely completes full 90 minutes, raising even more questions.
