Thomas Tuchel has reiterated he has no intention of leaving Chelsea for another club in the wake of Roman Abramovich’s decision to put the club up for sale.
Following Russia’s horrific invasion of Ukraine and, as a result, the threat of sanctions against Abramovich from the British government, Chelsea’s owner of almost 19 years announced his intention to sell the club last week.
Several potential suitors have since emerged, including Chelsea fan and British billionaire Nick Candy, supposed frontrunners Todd Boehly and Hansjorg Wyss, and Saudi Media.
Abramovich is hoping to receive around £3billion for the sale of Chelsea but may have to accept a significantly smaller sum due to the situation and timescale.
The only certainty at Chelsea at this moment in time is uncertainty. Few can predict how the club operates post-Abramovich or whether it can remain a relentless trophy-winning outfit.
Yet Tuchel is ready to find out and says any club – in the Premier League or abroad – that attempts to capitalise on the current uncertainty at Chelsea and lure him away from Stamford Bridge will be left disappointed.
“Take me? I hope I made it very clear that I am very happy where I am,” the German said yesterday ahead of the Blues’ Premier League clash against Norwich City.
“My first talks were with Marina (Granovskaia) and Petr (Cech) and still my talks are with these two, who are the representatives and most decisive people in the club apart from the owner.
“I was involved with them and I enjoyed it and for me, it was as of today, a perfect fit and I hope it will stay like this. I see for me personally no reason to enter any thoughts even of losing that.
“It is not finished here, by far not finished. It just started and is so promising. We have a strong group and a strong club and sometimes in life and in professional life you need the luck to enter an environment where you feel comfortable and everybody else feels comfortable with you.
“At the moment I feel this is the case and I appreciate that a lot and I am not keen, not at all, to change.”
