The Federal Executive Council (FEC), presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari, yesterday, approved contracts totalling N27.4 billion for the execution of projects at the Ministries of Works and Housing, and Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
It also approved the establishment of a Federal University of Health Sciences and proposed legislation for the enactment of the Civil Defence, Corrections, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB).

Following the virtual meeting at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, some of the council members briefed newsmen.

Those who gave breakdowns of various approvals received were Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola; Minister of FCT, Mohammed Musa Bello; Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola; and Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina.
Fashola said his ministry presented two memoranda, both of which were approved. Also approved was the appointment of consultants to supervise ongoing construction of the Bodo-Bonny Highway in Rivers State, and construction of the Idah-Nsukka Road, linking Kogi and Enugu States.

Bello said he presented a memo for the award of a contract for the procurement of a light-duty towing truck, including a 10-ton crane attachment for the Directorate of Road Traffic Services under the Federal Capital Territory Administration.

“This truck is meant to complement the fleet of vehicles the directorate has and enhance towing of vehicles. This contract has been awarded to a company called CIF Global Services Limited for N286,302,277.50, with a completion period of eight weeks,” he said.

Aregbesola said he presented a memo seeking approval for a bill to repeal the Immigration and Prison Services Board Act, Cap 12, Law of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004. He equally “sought approval for the enactment of the Civil Defence, Corrections, Fire, Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) Bill 2021 and the two prayers were approved”.
