Bournemouth went six points clear at the top of the Championship table with a 1-0 win away to Stoke on Tuesday.

Dominic Solanke’s goal early in the second half saw the south coast club, yet to lose in the second-tier this season, pull clear of West Bromwich Albion.

Only the top two clubs at the end of the regular season are guaranteed promotion to the Premier League, with Bournemouth looking to return to the top flight following their relegation in 2020.

Queens Park Rangers moved up to fifth after a late goal from Ilias Chair saw the London club to a 1-0 win at home to Blackburn Rovers.

Lyle Taylor scored twice in the closing moments as Nottingham Forest completed a remarkable 2-1 victory away to Bristol City — the Midlands club’s fourth straight win.

The Robins were on the verge of a first home win since January thanks to a first-half goal from Alex Scott.

Forest, however, struck twice late on with Taylor equalising from the penalty spot before he stabbed in a rebound to give the visitors all three points.

Elsewhere, Jake Cooper’s stoppage-time effort proved decisive as Millwall beat 10-man Sheffield United 2-1 at Bramall Lane.

Jed Wallace put south London club Millwall ahead in the 11th minute before a penalty on the stroke of half-time from Billy Sharp saw the Blades draw level.

Sheffield United midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White saw red for a second bookable offence in the 54th minute and the home side’s night went from bad to worse when, with two minutes of the additional six played, Cooper’s 20-yard strike took Millwall into 10th place.

Meanwhile, Luton fought back to draw 2-2 at Derby, who remain bottom after being hit with a 12-point penalty for entering administration.

Tom Lawrence put Derby, managed by former Manchester United and England striker Wayne Rooney ahead midway through the first half before substitute Fred Onyedinma equalised shortly after the restart.

Jason Knight restored the Rams’ lead on the hour mark but, with seven minutes left, Elijah Adebayo drew Luton level with a header before nearly winning the match when his shot hit the crossbar.
