In a statement by the police spokesman in the state, ASP Muhammed Jaligen, the force noted: “On August 18, 2021, the Commissioner of Police, Kaduna State Command and his management team embarked on a familiarisation and confidence-building tour of Zango, Kagoro and Jema’a chiefdoms, where he assured the respective traditional institutions and the people of the various communities of an improved atmosphere and increased deployment of more security personnel in order to curb the recent upsurge in communal disputes within the areas and the adjoining villages.”

ALSO, the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), yesterday, called on government at all levels to pass legislations that recognise the country’s traditional rulers as stakeholders in the management of security challenges and conflict resolution.
Minister of State for the FCT, Dr. Ramatu Tijjani Aliyu, who made the appeal at the presentation of staff of office to the Etsu of Wako chiefdom in Kwali area council of the territory, also pointed out that monarchs have contributed immensely to the promotion of good ties among kingdoms and empires across the federation.

She observed that the involvement of traditional institutions in nation-building would create conditions for more effective and efficient peace-building, peace-making and conflict prevention initiatives in Nigeria.

Represented by the FCTA Permanent Secretary, Olusade Adesola, the minister explained that staff of office was not just a symbol of authority, but also an instrument to promote peace-building and conflict management.

She warned that the current administration would not spare any monarch aiding and abetting criminality in his domain, stressing that no one has the right to accommodate “total strangers or group of people, especially now that the nation is facing challenges of insecurity.”
