The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the European Union have prepared 150 Ghanaian Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to join in the African Continental Free Trade Area initiative, UNIDO said in a release on Tuesday.

The latest beneficiaries, 50 SMEs in the cosmetic industry, are to strengthen the competitiveness of the cosmetic and personal care value chain in Ghana, the release said.

“All the SMEs have been trained in branding and marketing, packaging, labeling, and standard compliance to enhance their ability to produce cosmetic products that can compete effectively on the African continent and beyond,” said Aaron Adu, managing director of Global Shea Alliance.

After the training, Adu said, all the SMEs “can develop their unique cosmetic formulae with practical skills on skin lotion formulation.”
