A Nigerian lady known as Mary Akinbinu shared her story of being raped by four men at age 19 in 2011 Ofosun, Benin expressway Edo State, whose case was allegedly messed up by the then Divisional Police Officer (D.P.O).
Mary who narrated her ordeal to empiregist correspondent accompanied with a YouTube video link of how the event unfolded said that the rape incident occurred at night after closing from her petrol attendant.
According to her, she was stranded at the roadside after waiting to meet her friend due to low battery on her phone and network issue,leading to a man (a staff at JJ rock company) who happens to be one of their customers at her workplace rendered assistance and drover her to office so she can charge her phone.
She further narrated that the man after some minutes locked the door,kept the key and rough handled her to point that she was injured (showed scar in the video) and her Motorola phone was spoilt beyond repair before he had his way.
“I swear to God I don’t know this man from Adams all I know he worked at jjrock company and he used to come and buy fuel at our station then” Mary stressed.
Having said that, She again said that the man spoke with someone on a phone call in Edo dialect which she does not understand open the door for another three men who raped her till she became unconscious and was dumped at the center of Federal Benin-expressway road half naked rescued by two policemen she woke up to see behind her the following day after she gained consciousness.
After spending two weeks in the hospital, she revealed that the case was reported at the Efogbonogbo Police Station but was intimidated by the then D.P.O who asked why she was lying while claiming she is a girlfriend to the alleged man. She also noted that the D.P.O urged them to withdraw the case as there will be no case in court because she had off her shoes before entering his office.
While still struggling with hospital bills, the D.P.O charged them to pay the sum of fifteen thousand Naira to dismiss the case but after a long disagreement the mother paid seven thousand bait to dismiss the case.
