Mount 9, Tammy 4: Rating Chelsea players in Southampton draw

Abraham by Abraham

The Blues couldn’t quite get the job done.

Timo Werner – 5.5
Nothing much to write home about after a few good games from the German. The fact that he had only 1 shot and completed 1 of 4 dribbles proves the kind of game Werner had.

Mason Mount – 9
The midfielder was everywhere for Chelsea in midfield and won the penalty and took it himself as well. At times it seemed Mount was the only creative outlet for the Blues.

N’Golo Kante – 8
The Frenchman was everywhere as he won 7/8 tackles and 4 interceptions and even won 3 of 3 headers. The one thing missing from Kante’s performance was calmness on the ball when passing.

Tammy Abraham – 4
A disappointing afternoon for Tammy as he was subbed off at half-time. The English striker failed to make himself available on the ball and struggled to hold off Southampton’s challenges.

Mateo Kovacic – 8
The midfielder has been solid ever since Tuchel has come in and produced another steady performance – highlighted by his 4 dribbles and 2 tackles in the game.

Kurt Zouma – 5
The centre-back has not played too often in the past month and could’ve done better for the goal the Blues conceded as he let Minamino get beyond him too easily.

The Rest: Mendy – 6, Azpilicueta – 6, Rudiger – 7, Alonso – 6, Reece James – 5.5, Hudson-Odoi – 4.5, Hakim Ziyech – N/A, Jorginho – N/A,
