Rudiger says that he’s known both Havertz and Werner for a while due to their German connection.
They are very talented but are going through a slump right now, feels the centre-back.
Rudiger states that this is Havertz and Werner’s first experience outside Germany so it’ll take them some time.
At the end of the day, the duo must show their work on the field, Rudiger believes.
“Our relationship is good. I’ve known the guys for a long time, especially Timo. I already played with him in Stuttgart. But I already know Kai from the national team,” Antonio Rudiger told Sky Sports Germany.
“They are very talented guys, maybe in a little slump right now, but if you saw Timo’s performance against Sheffield United, then he was very important to us. He makes a lot of runs and I think the goals will come.
“That applies to both of them. This is their first experience abroad, they have only been in Germany so far, have only ever been in a safe environment, as I would call it.
“This is new territory for them and my job is to help them. I encourage them and I am just there for them. But at the end of the day, they have to do their own work on the field.”
Kai Havertz has not scored in the league since netting in the 3-3 draw with Southampton – 13 games ago.
The 21-year-old has struggled with Covid-19, injury and has been forced to play in several different positions already.
Werner, on the other hand, has not scored in the league 10 outings but has looked sharper since Tuchel’s arrival – providing an assist and winning 2 penalties in the last 2 games.
