Chelsea for the first time was led by a German manager who caused his new side to dominate the whole of 90 minutes.

The draw for sure isn’t the desired result but certainly a deserved result for the Chelsea we saw yesterday as we discuss 5 of the key factors we spotted in the game yesterday.

Total Dominance

The Thomas Tuchel era may have just started in grand style after seeing a totally different Chelsea performance after just one training session with the squad.

Wolves were lost for the most minutes of the game with Chelsea controlling almost every part of the game, limiting the visitor’s shot on target to 0 out of 4 fired in the whole of 90 minutes.

Chelsea maintained the game tempo right from the center as the midfielders remote the activities of the strikers.

Over 800 passes completed against Wolves’ 238, Chelsea made 1036 touches on the ball but was unfortunate not to find the back of the net.

Confidence

Confidence was one of the major key aspect of Chelsea’s good game yesterday as every player was seen in a kind of new manner.

Most important player yesterday was Hudson-Odoi as he caused serious problems from the wing, beating the defense many times but unfortunately his crosses weren’t met well.

Matteo Kovacic also was another important star who controlled the attacking part of the center, staring greatly and pushed multiple times to make good impacts.

Jorginho also was an outstanding performer. Kai Havertz on other performed better than since he arrived Stamford Bridge.

He displayed lots of confidence in his performance yesterday as he also could have been the only name on the score sheet yesterday but Jose’s header diverted the goal.

The most visible picture of how confident the squad was yesterday was the 3-man defense which had 2 of them always dashing in to push attacks, leaving only Thiago Silva at the back.

As much as this is a dangerous thing to do, Chelsea also managed to avoid Counter-Attacks, with the nearest one being Neto’s woodwork hit.

5-7 Seconds Win Back Task

Just as the normal Tuchel football, this played a major role in Blues’ dominance yesterday.

Unlike the former administration, Chelsea quickly won balls back whenever they lost it. This helped maintained the game in their favor and also reduced chances of a counter-attack which would have ruined all their hard works.

Speaking after the game, Tuchel confirmed that he gave his boy 5-7 seconds to win back balls and maintain the tempo.

Just like every other manager who just got a new job days before a game, Tuchel was prompt to error on picking his starting 11 after just one training session.

Ben Chilwell is more defensively focused than the attacking role Tuchel handed him yesterday as Marcos Alonso would have been threat with such role.

Good thing is Tuchel noticed this while the game played out and he afterwards pulled the English man to insert Pulisic. This then led to Hudson-Odoi switching over to the left wing to fill where Chilwell left.

Next interesting sub was inserting Mason Mount and Tammy Abraham for Hakim Ziyech and Olivier Giroud. The presence of these two player totally changed the game as Chelsea now penetrated more times than they had before their introduction.

It’s no doubt Mason Mount particularly has won a place in the starting line up along side Hudson-Odoi.
