Considering the financial crisis at the club, Barca should consider selling some of the squad players as they’ve got decent back-ups at Barca B.
- Sell: Neto
- Replace with: Inaki Pena
Ronald Koeman has confirmed that Neto wanted to leave Barcelona in January, so there shouldn’t be too many problems selling him next summer.
And instead of spending a ton of money on a goalkeeper that only plays in Copa del Rey and acts as a back-up to Marc-Andre ter Stegen, the club should promote Inaki Pena and have him as the second goalkeeper.
Pena has been training with the first team for a couple of seasons now, and his numbers at Barcelona B are decent enough. The youngster has recorded three clean sheets in six matches this term.
- Sell: Clement Lenglet/Samuel Umtiti
- Replace with: Arnau Comas
Having two left-footed centre-backs in the squad is good but it wouldn’t be too big of a loss if one of them leaves. Taking into account how they have been performing this season, Barca should consider selling either Lenglet or Umtiti in the summer.
Their place could be taken by Arnau Comas, who has been in top form this season. The 20-year-old is the only player at Barca B to have not missed a single minute of action this term. He also scored a goal.
- Sell: Junior Firpo
- Replace with: Juan Miranda
Firpo is a decent back-up to Jordi Alba but clearly not good enough to compete with him for the starting spot. Meanwhile, the Catalans have academy graduates Miranda and Alex Balde who are clearly more promising than Junior.
While Balde is very young and a few seasons at Barca B would benefit him, Miranda has already made his first steps on the professional level. Juan has recorded two goals and one assist in 12 matches for Real Betis this term so far.
- Sell: Miralem Pjanic
- Replace with: Jandro Orellana
Now that Barcelona have switched back to the 4-3-3 formation, Koeman seems to view Pjanic as the back-up to Sergio Busquets in the defensive midfielder position. However, the Bosnian doesn’t seem to be happy with his role, so a summer exit could be the best option for both parties.
Meanwhile, Blaugrana could promote Jandro from Barca B, who is the most Busquets-esque player since Sergi Samper. Orellana is good at distributing the ball, has got a terrific work rate and his long balls remind you of Andrea Pirlo.

- Sell: Francisco Trincao
- Replace with: Alex Collado
Selling Trincao after one season would be unfair towards the Portuguese as the youngster definitely deserves more chances. Still, Barca are in a deep financial crisis so they should definitely consider it.
At the same time, it’s hard to name a thing Trincao is better at than Collado. Alex is clearly too good to be playing for Barca B and deserves more chances at the first team. The Spaniard is also quite versatile, as he can play on both wings as well as in midfield.
