Freixa says that Garcia will join Barca for free in summer but the official announcement could arrive next week.
He has also confirmed that the election will take place on March 7 – it’s reportedly impossible to bring it forward and allow voting by mail at the same time.
“We had a very cordial conversation with Koeman about the signing of Eric Garcia, but he will arrive at the end of the season for free,” presidential hopeful Toni Freixa has revealed to Mundo Deportivo after the meeting between Carles Tusquets, Ronald Koeman and 3 presidential candidates ended later today.
He even added that the official announcement of the summer signing of Eric Garcia could come next week after another meeting on Tuesday.
Freixa has also confirmed that the election will take place on March 7 but the club haven’t made this date official yet.
There were talks that the election could be brought 1 week forward but the implementation of voting by mail makes it impossible, RAC1 explain.
As for Eric Garcia, Ronald Koeman personally attended today’s meeting to push for his signing in January. Yet it would cost around €5m so that the club decided to sign the centre-back in summer for free.
