The German manager admits he was wowed by Bruno’s performance for Sporting against Liverpool in a pre-season game a few years ago.
Klopp praises Bruno’s influential demeanour and how well he links-up with his teammates on the pitch.
Speaking about Bruno Fernandes ahead of the game against Man United, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp told their official website: “He’s an outstanding player. Before he joined United, we played against Sporting in the USA on the tour and in that game already you could see, ‘Wow!’
“Obviously everybody knew him but in that game it was the first time my team played against a team he was involved. You could really see he was a difference-maker and that’s what he shows now.
“He is settled, he is a very influential player for United obviously, involved in a lot of things. I know people talk mostly about the goal involvements, which is very important stuff, but he is a link-up in a lot of other situations as well.
“I don’t know him well enough to really judge that but he seems to be a leader as well. So, yeah, a good signing, unfortunately, for United.”
The pre-season game Klopp is talking about is when Bruno faced Liverpool in a pre-season game with Sporting Lisbon in 2019. The Liverpool boss is trying to make Fernandes complacent with his comments, but the Portuguese magnifico isn’t one to take this game lightly. Fernandes will look to be a nightmare for LFC’s defenders and get involved among the goals to seal a big win for United on Sunday
