Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba suffered a tough start to the season, starting just five of the first 11 games during the 2020/21 campaign – and it stuck with the £89m star.

Paul Pogba has admitted what he “hates” about Manchester United while speaking about tough times under manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The Frenchman has picked up some strong form in the Premier League for the Red Devils, grabbing the winner in the 1-0 victory over Burnley.

That goal sent his side top of the table ahead of a massive clash against second-placed Liverpool.

But the start of the season was not so good for Pogba, though, making just five starts from the first 11 games in all competitions.

Paul Pogba And the 27-year-old has admitted that the bench decision from Solskjaer rubbed him up the wrong way.

Speaking to Sky Sports , the Frenchman said: “I hate to be on the bench, I don’t like it.

“It doesn’t mean other players don’t deserve to be playing, but just myself, I don’t like it.

“I am a winner, I just want to play football. I want to help my team, and when I’m on the bench and don’t come on, I feel I cannot help my team-mates so I feel bad, I don’t like it.”

Pogba has only failed to appear in six games this season – a stark comparison to his 39 games missed with an ankle injury last season.

And the Frenchman has explained how the time off impacted him in Solskjaer’s team.

“It was hard, it was strange,” the 27-year-old added.

“Last year was a tough season for me, with the injury, where people don’t really know about it, playing with the injury, with the double fracture, and trying to give my best as well for the team.

“Coming back is always strange, it’s like having a new ankle when you have an operation like this. I tried to come back as good as possible.

“Then obviously I got Covid, and form wasn’t the best, and the results with the team wasn’t the best for all of us, and we’re just coming back to a good form.

“The players being played in my position have been doing great – other midfielders Fred, Nemanja (Matic), Scott (McTominay) have been doing great.

“Where we are is because of all of them, all of us. We are at the top of the league now, and I’m happy for that now. I have to think about the team, and not about myself. Sometimes it’s hard!”

It comes as Pogba also spoken about United’s title chances, sitting three points ahead of the Reds.
