And so thoughts turn to our next outing, Derby Day the sequel. Once again we host our noisy neighbours. This time its personal, a chance for revenge.
I fully expect this to be very different compared to the cagey league encounter. Sit down and buckle up, We’ll be out to avenge last years result, City will be doing thier best to emulate it. This year though is a one legged straight shoot out, winner takes all, or at least progresses.
We’ve evolved since the corresponding fixture last year and City will be aware of that.
I don’t think this is the time to rest anyone, that can come later, we will need our strongest starting line up possible.
Im going for a 442 with DeGea in goal based on his experience and recent upturn in form.
Immediately in front of him our strongest back four of Shaw, Baily Maguire and AWB. Again down to recent good form Shaw gets the nod over Telles, Baily has played 4 consecutive games for the first time since 2017 and is on fire, Maguire a no brainer and AWB is in for his defensive prowess.
A mid field quartet of Pogba, McTominay, Fernandes, and Fred. Pogba is another player worthy of selection due to his recent good form, he is beginning to look something close to his devastating best. Fernandes is another no brainer, always gives his all even when he’s a bit off he’s on it. The McFred partnership works well with Fred breaking things up and we will be wanting the McTominay that showed up against Leeds.
With Cavani brutaly suspended i’m going with Rashford on the right and Martial on the left, both having found the back of net recently and both selfless grafters that will give a covid depleated City defence problems.
Result wise i’m going obviously for a home win. I’ll be happy with the victory but think we’ll take 3-1
