Luis Garcia was in Getafe’s goal when Messi channelled his inner Maradona back in 2007.
He says this goal is a recognition of the best player in history and he takes pride even in conceding it.
“When you concede a goal, it’s impossible to be happy, but this is the recognition of the best player in history, Leo Messi. Time passes quickly and I am proud to have played against him,” Getafe’s goalkeeper Luis Garcia paid tribute to the Argentine on his Facebook.
Garcia was in goal when then 19-year-old Leo scored one of his greatest goals ever – a perfect strike after a solo run. This goal reminds of Diego Maradona’s all-time beauty against England.

Luis Garcia also posted a picture of himself with 2 Budweiser bottles of beer. As a reminder, the famous beer company sent 644 bottles of beer to each goalkeeper who has ever conceded a goal from Messi after Leo scored his 644th goal and broke Pele’s world record.
