Back in 2018, the French great claimed if Neymar really left Barca to get out of Leo’s shadow, he should have changed sport instead.
Henry added that all football players were in Messi’s shadow, without exception.
“I don’t know if Neymar left Barcelona to get out of Messi’s shadow,” Thierry Henry told Marca in February 2018.
The French great added: “What is true is that all players are in Messi’s shadow, and if Neymar doesn’t want to be, he should change sport.”
According to several sources, the Brazilian swapped Barca for PSG in order to become the best player in the world and win the Ballon d’Or. Neymar hasn’t come any close yet while Messi claimed his record-breaking 6th accolade last year.
Neymar has scored 79 goals in 96 games for the Parisians between 2017 and 2020. Messi has managed 134 goals during the same run.
