Messi attempts more on-target shots in single CL game without scoring than any player in 17 years

He was desperately trying to score on Tuesday.

Leo Messi made 7 shots on target against Juventus.
None of them were converted into goals, however; that’s something no player in a single Champions League game could record since 2003/04.
Most of Leo’s shots were too easy for Gigi Buffon but some of them were really tough to parry – but that’s what the Italian did.
Interestingly, the 33-year-old has recently registered quite the same stat in La Liga: he’s the only player in Europe’s top 5 leagues to score 0 goals despite making 10+ shots in a single game in 2020/21.
