Juventus beat Barcelona 3-0.
Ronald Araujo insists that he couldn’t concede a foul on the Portuguese.
The Uruguayan belives that the referee mistake made it difficult for Barca to recover in the game.
Araujo also claims that the ref should’ve pointed to the spot in the Messi episode.
“It [the Ronaldo episode] is not a penalty. I’ve watched it again and it’s not a penalty. I win the position and he falls. I’m in front of him and it’s impossible that I can concede a foul. On the contrary, it’s his own fault,” Ronald Araujo told Movistar after the Juventus game.
“I told the referee about it and the truth is that I don’t understand the decision. He told me they had to check it. I think it wasn’t a penalty and we all saw it.
“It was a mistake that hurt us because you start the game being 1-0 down and turning things around is difficult.
“For me, there should’ve been a penalty in the Messi episode, but the ref didn’t whistle it,” the Uruguayan concluded.
Although the game was packed with the referee’s controversial episodes, it’s probably worth saying that neither Cristiano Ronaldo nor Leo Messi deserved to win a penalty kick in the respective game episodes.
