There’s always a light in the tunnel, Cules.
Messi still fired up
Leo might be struggling in La Liga but his Champions League performances are often head and shoulders above.
The Argentine scored 3 goals in 4 games he played and was really close to finding the net in the home Juventus clash – that game was vivid proof that the 33-year-old still has that badly-needed winning mentality.
At least against average opposition.
Barca comfortably beat Dynamo Kyiv and Ferencvaros away from home while the Griezmann-Dembele/Coutinho-Braithwaite trident proved itself as a great alternative if Messi’s not on the pitch.
We have a real striker
Martin Braithwaite managed to show his best in all of the games he took part in. The Dane scored 3 goals and provided 2 assists in the last 3 Champions League clashes and gave Barca a spark in the second half vs Juventus in which he was a regular threat for Gianluigi Buffon.
Youngsters are the future
Riqui Puig, Oscar Mingueza, Sergino Dest and Carles Alena all had an impressive Champions League campaign. They all played with no fear and sometimes looked even more consistent than our experienced stars.
We may still hope for favourable last-16 draw
Qualifying from the 2nd place wasn’t good news for us but that doesn’t mean that we’ll necessarily get top-quality opposition at the next stage.
Apart from sides like Bayern and Liverpool, we may get one of Borussia Dortmund, Borussia M’gladbach and Shakhtar Donetsk who weren’t very consistent throughout the group stage.
