Alphonsus Uche Okafor-Mefor, the estranged Deputy-Leader of the Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB), who is currently battling the secessionist group’s leader, Nnamdi Kanu, on Thursday spoke against contempt for human rights.

According to Mefor on Biafra Human Rights Radio, ‘what you would not like to be done to you, do not do it to another person’.

Although Mefor did not specifically mention Kanu, his remark about the outlawed IPOB and its hierarchy strongly suggests he is referring to self-exiled Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

“Some people have misapplied the principle of ‘Command and Control’,” Mefor said.

“And some of them are seeing themselves as Emperors.

“These people must be challenged. It doesn’t matter what they think.

“We don’t want Emperors in Biafra, not to talk of IPOB.

“It cannot happen.

“You can do anything you like, but in the end, you will continue to get the heat.

“You will not have rest – all of you.

“So if anybody is going against the principle of human rights, civil liberties, and fundamental freedom for all, that person or group of people are on the other side.

“They are better described as Emperors and dictators.

“And we are not going to allow them to have a free day.

“It’s as simple as that.”

Recall that Following the cracks in IPOB, he (Mefor) resigned his role as Nnamdi Kanu’s right-hand man.

Kanu has not broadcast for some time now.

This online news medium discovered that Kanu’s last broadcast was on October 30, 2020.

Before now, the 53-year-old does broadcast via his known Facebook page twice averagely in a week.

Many believe Kanu’s nonbroadcast – which some have termed ‘unusual’ – is due to the current crisis rocking outlawed IPOB leadership.

Apart from Mefor, another top IPOB member who is no more part of the executive is Amaka Ekwo.

Mefor was said to have called for a change of approach and attitude among IPOB members.
