The coach says it was hard for the 22-year-old to get used to the new playing style.
However, Koeman cannot confirm the midfielder will definitely stay for the rest of the season.
“Alena has improved a lot, it has cost him a bit to adapt to the new system. He’s changing things up, in order to be a Barca player in midfield,” Ronald Koeman said on Carles Alena, as quoted by Marca.

On Carles’ future, the coach added: “I can’t talk about what will happen in January.”
Alena has registered just 97 minutes of playing time this season, completing the full 90 minutes in the 4-0 Dynamo Kyiv win. Still, there are rumours he may leave on loan in January.

Do you believe Alena should leave on loan in winter to have more playing time? Tell us why or why not in the comments!
